Today, Typepad introduced a new main homepage and a new personal homepage.
Main homepage: increase the rate of new trialists/users
On the main homepage, they are pushing hard to increase their database of registered users.
You have two big buttons to "learn more" and "have a free trial".
You can't enter your login/password on that page any more: they made some space to promote the service to new users.
Improved personal homepage
The interface is more intuitive, and enables you to quickly access the 3 main features/sections available on typepad: Weblogs, Photo Albums and TypeLists.
The first part of the screen display the main message (marketing/news) typepad wants to communicate to its users: if you missed it on the main page, they have a second chance to tempt you!

That is another useful feature recently launched on Typepad: now, you can display a post permanently at the top of your blog's home page, however old it is!

Have an important announcement for your community? Starting a new blog and want to introduce first time readers to your topic? Just want to put a permanent shout-out on your front page? You can now "pin" a post to the top of your blog's home page by marking it as "featured."

Typepad launched a new feature with Skype: you can easily host a live discussion with your readers.
You can promote your skypecasts with the new Typepad widget.
But first, register on skypecasts!
The Skypecasts service is not a "beta" version but a "preview" version! ;)
I am very pleased Typepad is now providing a very useful widget called Open Links in a New Window.
It is pretty self explanatory: this widget will install an invisible snippet of JavaScript on your site that will scan the page for links that point outside of your domain, and force those links to open in a new browser window. Any links that point inside your domain -- archive links, category links, individual entry links, etc. -- will open in the current browser window.

Please note that is takes approximatively 15mn to work on your blog!
There is a problem though: if you are using a domain mapping, it will open a new window even when you click on links that point "inside your domain"... If someone has a solution to that problem, please leave a comment!
