First it gives me the opportunity to name a song of one my favourites band, Queen!
This is one of the main reasons why I love networking and meeting people so much: let me share with you two stories that happened to me this autumn.
Liverpool street (London railway station) -> Supply Chain Director, McDonalds
I had just missed my train to Stansted airport... The next train was delayed (20 minutes) and the following train was... canceled!
Next to me, one man was at least as pleased as I was: we started to talk only to find out that we were both flying to the same city, on the same flight! He hsa been working at McDonalds for more than 14 years, and he is currently European Supply Chain Director. Fascinating job!
We got on well and we traveled together: we took the next train, had a quick lunch, we were even sitting together on the plane. And the best of all: we kept in touch!
Claridge's (top London hotel) -> Member of the board, Polyus
Last week I spent a very good evening first having a drink at Claridge's, then having dinner at Gavroche (a 2 stars Michelin restaurant which I highly recommend by the way!)
I went to the gents at Claridge's: I heard two people coming to the toilets too. They were apparently very happy and were laughing loudly. We started to chat: "how are you doing?", "where do you come from?"... One of the two guys, he is English, started to talk in French... We laughed, and after 2/3 minutes he gave me his business card: he is a member of the board at Polyus!
The next day, I sent an email... He replied!
