Ziggs as an improved yellow pages-like service?
A couple of days ago, I have received Ziggs' newsletter: one intereresting move is the launch of their first professional services directory.
Looking for a Photographer?
For a professional portrait for your Ziggs Profile? For your family's summer reunion? For an upcoming wedding? Ziggs can help.
Ziggs has just launched our first professional services directory, presenting local photographers and their photo galleries in 20 US cities, from Boston to Los Angeles. We'll be expanding these directories to include other local service providers, from attorneys to mortgage lenders, across key US and European markets in the future. To see the photographers' online photo galleries, visit our local Boston Photographers Directory or our local Los Angeles Photographers Directory today. To learn about all cities we serve, visit our nationwide directory of local photographers.
Social networks as enhanced professional services directories?
Is Ziggs' new strategy a smart move? Are social networks going to become enhanced professional services directories?
I would say "hopefully not", but it depends on how they do it and position themselves. They need to take care of their members, and probably still offer 2 or 3 different services.
I can clearly see the (big) benefit for small businesses, which is to build credibility and visibility. You are given the chance to really differentiate yourself! I am concerned (and curious) about the next steps: a) I believe Ziggs will attract more and more "vendors" and small businesses, and b) I hope members won't receive notifications and promotional offers every other day, and stop checking the website...
